“Men these days are too stingy” – Lady laments, shares experience

A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions on social media after lamenting what she described as the increasing stinginess of men in today’s dating scene.

In a viral post, the woman recalled how, in the past, men were more willing to pay for meals and treats when accompanying women to restaurants.

She contrasted that with a recent experience where she went out to buy shawarma worth N3,000 and no man offered to pay for her.

Expressing her frustration, she described men as “aka gum,” a slang term implying stinginess, while questioning what she sees as a shift in social and dating expectations.

She said …

“Before when you get to a restaurant men would offer to pay for what you want, like ‘Fine girl, leave your money, I’ll pay’. I went to get shawarma of N3K but nobody offered to pay for me. All these men are aka gum.”
