The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 27-year-old automobile technician, Abiodun Ajao, for allegedly stealing and dismantling a customer’s car with license plate Lagos BDG 956-FJ for resale.

The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Dyke Ogbonnaya, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday.

Ogbonnaya revealed that the suspect drove the vehicle from Lagos to Idona, Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State, where he had already begun dismantling it to sell its parts before being apprehended.

When questioned, Ajao initially claimed the vehicle’s engine was faulty, stating, “I’m trying to find buyers for the parts since the engine is unusable.”

Further investigations revealed that the car had been brought to him for repairs. Ajao admitted he had driven the vehicle around Lagos with passengers and later to Ijebu Imusin before being caught dismantling it.

The suspect confessed to the crime and has been pleading for forgiveness.
