Man caught stealing from an Oyinbo man on a flight to Abuja

A Nigerian businesswoman has shared a shocking in-flight experience after a man was caught red-handed stealing ₦290,000 from a foreign passenger on an Abuja-bound flight.

According to the woman, identified as @ChiomaIfeanyieze on social media, passengers had boarded and settled in, waiting for takeoff, when the unexpected drama unfolded.

She recounted that the Oyinbo man suddenly stood up to retrieve something from his bag but realized his ₦290,000 cash was missing.

He immediately alerted a flight attendant, explaining that his bag had been moved from the overhead compartment above his seat to another section. A nearby woman then spoke up, saying she saw a man earlier pick up the same bag and shift it.

The accused man initially denied the allegations, but after insistence from both the crew and passengers, he was searched. To everyone’s shock, the missing money was discovered hidden under his seat.

The incident caused about a 20-minute delay as airport security boarded the plane to arrest the suspect. However, passengers were further stunned when his own luggage was checked, it contained only a single shirt and no other belongings.

She added that she felt ashamed on behalf of the man, noting that if the woman who witnessed the act hadn’t spoken up, the foreign passenger might have unfairly assumed all Nigerians were thieves.
