Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is expected to make his return for Serie A side Udinese later this month.

The 26-year-old was handed a two-month suspension in July after Italian football authorities found him guilty of illegal betting, following an incident during Udinese’s Serie A clash against Lazio on March 11, 2024.

Okoye, who was booked for time-wasting in the 64th minute of that match, initially faced fears of a four-year ban for sporting fraud. However, the disciplinary panel reduced the charge to illegal betting, resulting in a shorter suspension.

His ban officially ends on October 19, making him eligible to return in Udinese’s Serie A fixture against Cremonese on October 20.

The former Watford shot-stopper, capped 18 times by Nigeria, could also feature for the Super Eagles in their international friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia in November.

Okoye joined Udinese in 2023 after leaving English side Watford.
