Lidl has issued a recall for its Deluxe Red Cabbage with Apple, Dried Cranberries & Spices after discovering the product contains milk that is not properly highlighted on the packaging.

The 480g side dish poses a potential health risk for anyone who suffers from a dairy allergy, shoppers have been warned.

The recall affects shoppers who rely on accurate labelling to avoid ingredients that could make them unwell.

It has prompted an allergy alert by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), warning customers with milk sensitivities to steer clear of the product entirely.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it," the agency announced in a statement.

All batch codes and all use-by dates are affected by the recall, so if you've got this product at home, it's worth checking.

Lidl has been in touch with allergy support organisations to inform their members, and point-of-sale notices are now displayed in stores to explain the situation.

For any questions, customers can reach Lidl's Customer Care team at customer.care@lidl.co.uk or by calling 0203 966 5566.

This latest recall comes just weeks after Lidl found itself pulling Calbee crisps from its shelves over similar labelling concerns.

The discount supermarket recalled both Hot & Spicy Crisps and Pizza Crisps made by Calbee Group UK Ltd, telling customers to "dispose of [them] immediately".

Tesco had already taken the same action with these crisp varieties after it emerged they contained mustard and celery that weren't declared on the packaging.

The FSA confirmed both products represent a possible health risk for anyone with sensitivities to these allergens.

The Calbee Hot & Spicy Crisps recall affects 55g packets with best-before dates running up to June 5, 2026, which may contain unlabelled mustard.

LIDL SHOP SIGN

The Pizza Crisps variety, also in 55g packets, has been pulled due to undeclared celery, with affected batches dated up to April 28, 2026.

You can find the batch details printed on the back of each packet.

Fortunately, shoppers can return the crisps to any Lidl or Tesco store for a full refund without needing their receipt.

Anyone wanting more information about the Calbee products can contact their consumer care team on 0330 660 0015 or email consumercare@calbee.co.uk.
