Lere Olayinka Reacts To Investigation Report Saying That Bauchi State Paid Nearly $17M For Secuy

An aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, has reacted to an investigation alleging that Bauchi State paid millions of dollars in cash through unofficial channels for security purposes.

Olayinka made the reaction on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, while sharing a report published by Premium Times.

In the post, Olayinka wrote: “Government records and EFCC filings show that Bello Bodejo, leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, received millions of dollars in four tranches from Bauchi State funds. The payments were made while he was under intense security scrutiny.”

The post accompanied a Premium Times headline which read: “Bauchi State paid nearly $17 million in cash through unofficial channels for ‘security’.”

According to the investigation referenced in the post, the payments were allegedly made outside the banking system and involved intermediaries. The report stated: “A PREMIUM TIMES investigation shared , it reveals that millions of dollars were disbursed outside the banking system, using intermediaries, between late 2023 and July 2024. Some payments were handed out in restaurants, supermarkets, and private homes.”
