Protest: APC Condemns Attack On Zamfara Secretariat, Party Chieftains' Residencies

A Nasarawa State lawmaker, Mohammed Isimbabi, has dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that the Toto/Gadabuke Constituency representative in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly confirmed his new political alliance in a letter addressed to the assembly.

During a session in Lafia on Monday, the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, announced Isimbabi’s defection while reading his official letter.

The lawmaker indicated that the primary reason for his move to the APC was the ongoing divisions within the NNPP at the national level.

Jatau praised Isimbabi for his courageous decision to align with the ruling APC, expressing confidence that his addition would enhance the party’s strength.

Additionally, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, the state APC chairman, expressed his appreciation for Isimbabi’s decision and promised him a fair and equitable experience within the party.

In a related note, Musa Abubakar (NNPP-Doma South) extended his congratulations to Isimbabi and hinted at his forthcoming transition to the APC.

He said: “Hon Isimbabi’s defection is a welcome development. We share common political interests. I will be leaving NNPP soon.”

In his response, Isimbabi stated that he left the NNPP because of the internal divisions within the party at the national level.

Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude to the NNPP for allowing him to run for election. This campaign ultimately led to his victory and subsequent election as a member of the assembly.

The legislator affirmed his commitment to serving his constituents to enhance their quality of life.

“Before taking this decision, I have gone round the six electoral wards of my constituency to consult them on my defection.

“They have given me the go ahead to defect to APC,” he said.
