LASTMA arrests reckless driver for killing passerby in Ikeja

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority have arrested a reckless driver for allegedly killing a passerby in Ogba area of Ikeja. The Director, of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq in a statement disclosed that the fatal accident happened around Yaya Abatan by College Road, in Ogba, Ikeja on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of an unregistered white Mercedes Benz (CLA 250) car lost control as a result of over-speeding and hit an innocent passerby who died instantly, he said. LASTMA personnel apprehended the driver while running away after he saw that the innocent passerby had died as a result of the accident, The LASTMA Commander in Agege (Iju-Ifako axis), Akinola Ganiyu, who led the agencys rescue team noted that the driver was later handed over to policemen from Area G Police Command who were also present at the scene of the accident for further investigation. "While the vehicle was immediately cleared off the road for free vehicular movement, members of the deceased family later came and removed the corpse, Ganiyu was quoted as saying. On his part, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, warned motorists against over-speeding, stressing the need to obey road signs and speed limits while driving on the roads.   The post LASTMA arrests reckless driver for killing passerby in Ikeja appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
