LASG says it is in talks with Ogun State Govt to extend the Blue Line rail to Agbara as Phase 2 project progresses.

The project is being constructed by CCECC. It was awarded in 2023 and expected to take three years to complete.

The Lagos State Government says it is in discussions with the Ogun State Government to extend the Second Phase of the Lagos Blue Line – currently between Mile 2 and Okokomaiko in Lagos – further to Agbara area of Ogun State.

Director of Rail Transport for Lagos Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Olasukanmi Okusaga, made this known on Tuesday during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Blue Line Phase 2 project.

During the inspection of the ongoing construction of the Blue Line Phase 2 project, Engr. Okusaga expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. He also announced plans to construct a depot in Okokomaiko.

The Second Phase of the Blue Line project is being constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). It was awarded in 2023 and expected to take three years to complete.

Covering a 14-kilometer stretch, the Phase 2 project will include six stations in Festac, Alakija, Trade Fair, Volkswagen, LASU and Okokomaiko along with three bridges in Maza Maza, Satellite town and LASU.

The first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, from Marina to Mile 2, was opened for commercial operations last September by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

It covers a 13-kilometers between Marina to Mile 2 and has five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina. The journey lasts about 28 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.
