Lagos APC Aspirant Samuel Ajose Withdraws From 2027 Race, Endorses Hamzat

Samuel Ajose, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has withdrawn from the 2027 gubernatorial race and declared his support for Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, who is widely regarded as the party’s consensus candidate.

Ajose announced his decision during a meeting with supporters in Lagos on Tuesday, describing the move as a difficult but necessary step taken in the interest of party unity and the overall development of the state.

“I know it is a very tough decision. I still struggled with it overnight, too. But when I woke up in the morning, I had my peace,” he said.

He explained that his decision was driven by a desire to promote collective progress within the party, adding that he would actively participate in Hamzat’s campaign structure going forward.

“In the interest of the party, I, Dr Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, have decided that I will let go. I will support Dr Hamzat, and we are going to be part of his campaign, and we are going to take a very important position in his campaign,” he said.

Ajose’s withdrawal comes shortly after another aspirant, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, also stepped down from the race and endorsed Hamzat. His decision followed increasing backing for Hamzat from President Bola Tinubu and key leaders of the Lagos APC.
