Kind Police Officers Carry Coffin for 90-Year-Old Mother Who Could Not Afford Money For Son Burial

A touching video has gone viral showing police officers going out of their way to help a 90-year-old woman, Elena Meza, give her son a proper burial after he passed away on February 8.

According to NeedToKnow, her son, 57-year-old Darío Colina Meza, died of natural causes. At the time of his death, Elena reportedly had no money and no family members to help her arrange his burial.

The elderly mother also wished to bury her son in a Christian way but had no means to transport his body to the cemetery.

Moved by her situation, the National Police of Peru stepped in to assist. Four uniformed officers carried the wooden coffin for about two kilometers across rocky terrain in the rural village of Quillcaccasa, located in the southern Peruvian region of Ayacucho.

As they made their way to the cemetery, Elena was seen walking ahead of the coffin in tears.

When they finally arrived, Darío was laid to rest in the presence of his grieving mother, villagers who had gathered, and the four officers who helped make the burial possible.
