Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango has emerged as the top-performing senator in the latest Infotrak poll, scoring 69 percent.

Murango led a group of 15 senators recognized for their performance, with Nyandarua Senator John Methu following closely at 68 per cent. Murang’a Senator Joel Nyutu took third place with 65 percent.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei ranked fourth after recording 64 per cent, while Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot rounded out the top five with 63 per cent.

Baringo Senator Vincent Kiprono, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo each scored 62 per cent and shared the next spot in the rankings. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe followed with 61 percent each.

Mandera Senator Ali Roba and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua both recorded 60 per cent in the poll. West Pokot Senator Julius Mugor then scored 58 percent to claim the next position.

Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei and Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago completed the list after both recorded 58 percent.

According to Infotrak, senators often work in a space that many ordinary citizens do not see clearly. The constitution gives senators a mandate that covers representing counties, protecting devolution, legislating, and overseeing matters affecting county interests. Infotrak notes that much of this work happens in Parliament, committee sessions, national debates, and other forms of institutional oversight.

The poll also found that even when senators stay active at the national level, citizens typically judge their performance by how visibly they defend county interests and how effectively they turn their efforts into tangible benefits for their counties.

Infotrak based the assessment on several criteria, including county interest, protection of devolution, oversight, visibility, and public confidence.

The survey ran between January and May 2026 across all 47 counties, covering 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards. Infotrak used a sample of 87,286 respondents.

Infotrak said it treated each county as its own universe, with sample sizes ranging from 738 to 5,100 respondents depending on population and the number of wards.

The research team collected data through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) and analyzed the results using SPSS. Respondents then rated their senators, MPs, and county women representatives on a scale of one to 10, where one represented “very poor” and 10 represented “excellent.” Infotrak determined the final rankings using the average scores that respondents assigned in each constituency and county.
