K. Michelle Seeks An Attorney In Response To ‘AI People’ Allegedly Using Her Tone And Voice

K. Michelle wants to find a lawyer to fight against AI’s use of her unique skill and style.

On a livestream, the singer responded to a comment about a request to write a song for her. She rejected the request while throwing shots at those leveraging her tone and voice to create music with AI.

“You know what? I don’t need nobody writing me no songs right now. I got so much built-up tension. AI people using my tones, and my voice, and all of that. And now I gotta go find a lawyer. All types of stuff going on,” she said in a video shared on X. “Last thing I really need is for somebody to write me a song.”

There were speculation that K. Michelle was likely referring to Xania Monet, an AI-generated artist created by entrepreneur and poet Telisha “Nikki” Jones, as AFROTECH™ previously reported. Jones writes all the lyrics for Xania Monet but uses AI platform Suno to create the music and vocals.

“I hope that K Michelle and Muni Long sue the creator and win,” Mary Pryor, a director and digital marketing expert, said under a post shared by AFROTECH™ about Xania Monet and Jones.

Xania Monet’s debut single, “How Was I Supposed to Know?,” paved the way for a multi-million-dollar recording contract with Hallwood Media. The single was also featured on several Billboard charts: R&B Digital Song Sales, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, Overall Digital Song Sales, Emerging Artists, and Adult R&B Airplay, People reports.

“Whether it was stuff I went through, a close family member, or a close friend, I wrote about it. I lost my dad when I was 8 years old. So that’s where ‘How Was I Supposed to Know?’ and also the song titled ‘Daddy,’ that’s where they come from,” she said during an interview with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings.”

“What Jones has done with Xania Monet represents the future of music,” Hallwood Media company said, according to People. “AI is breaking down barriers… giving creators who might not have had a traditional path into the industry the chance to bring their stories and ideas to life while connecting directly with listeners.”

Jones continues to defend the use of the AI artist.

“Technology is evolving,” Jones explained on “CBS Mornings.” “Everybody has different ways of putting in the work to get to where they’re at. I don’t feel a way about it.”
