JUST IN: Tinubu Commissions Zaria–Kano Section of Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned Section III of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway, covering the Zaria–Kano corridor, in a move expected to improve road safety, ease transportation and boost economic activities across Northern Nigeria.

Tinubu, who was represented at the commissioning ceremony by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, described the highway as a critical transport route connecting Kano with Kaduna and other parts of the country.

The road serves thousands of commuters, traders, commercial drivers and transport operators daily, making its rehabilitation significant to the movement of people and goods across the region.

The completion of the Zaria–Kano section is expected to provide better driving conditions, reduce hazards associated with damaged road surfaces and minimise avoidable road accidents and loss of lives.

The project is also expected to strengthen commercial activities by facilitating the movement of agricultural produce, manufactured goods and other commodities between Kano, Kaduna and neighbouring states.

According to a statement by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Tofa, the improved highway will enhance access to markets, reduce travel delays and lower vehicle operating costs, creating better opportunities for traders, farmers and businesses.

The statement noted that the commissioning reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to developing critical infrastructure to strengthen national connectivity, facilitate commerce and promote economic growth.

The Kano State Government also urged motorists to observe speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking and comply with traffic regulations to ensure the safe and sustainable use of the improved highway.
