JUST-IN: Body Of Nasarawa North Senator Akwashiki Arrives Nigeria From India

The remains of Senator Godiya Akwashiki, who represented Nasarawa North Senatorial District of Nasarawa State in the Senate, arrived in Nigeria on Monday morning.

The body of the deceased federal lawmaker is expected to be deposited at the National Hospital morgue in Abuja.

Senator Akwashiki, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) until his death, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 52, while receiving treatment in an Indian hospital.

Prior to his election twice into the Senate, late Senator Akwashiki was previously a Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and had served as a Senator since 2019, winning re-election in 2023. He was known for his commitment to the constituency development and empowerment programme.

Further details on his funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
