  • Designer Jeremy Glover has sketched a futuristic Jeep Wrangler.
  • While the sketch was created to promote the Drive for Design contest, it looks rather good.

When it comes to design, one of the toughest tasks is reimagining an icon. The challenges are immense and so are the stakes, especially when it comes to something like the Ford Mustang or Jeep Wrangler.

However, Jeep Exterior Designer Jeremy Glover was up for the challenge and recently penned a futuristic Wrangler. Despite the forward-looking appearance, the model is instantly recognizable thanks to a bold seven slot grille and circular headlights.

They’re joined by pronounced front fenders and an updated take on the classic hood. We can also see a sporty front bumper, five-spoke wheels, and a modernized body that features clean lines as well as rounded accents.

The resulting sketch is impressive as the model embraces a softer, more modern aesthetic. Despite this, the Wrangler wears an aggressive face and sports an outdoor attitude.

Before you start reading too much into things, Glover created the sketch as part of an effort to promote the Drive for Design contest, which is coming to a close. In the clip, you can see him draw a basic outline of the vehicle to get the proportions right. He then adds cut lines, before moving onto the distinctive front end and finishing off with a few extra details.

While the image is simply an interesting sketch, a number of Wrangler owners will undoubtedly take notice. However, it’s worth pointing out the model was recently given a facelift so we shouldn’t expect to see a redesigned Wrangler anytime soon.

Instead, the company is focused on launching the electric Wagoneer S that is due this fall. We can also look forward to a production version of the Recon concept.

Getting back to the Drive for Design contest, less than a day remains for high school students to submit their entries. This year contestants were asked to design their “future dream vehicle for any Stellantis brand in the year 2040.” This could be anything from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram or even the company’s foreign brands.
