It will take a miracle for Remo Stars to overturn Sundowns deficit – Unuanel

Former Kwara United coach Samson Unuanel believes Remo Stars face an uphill battle in their bid to overturn their first-leg defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns thrashed Remo Stars 5-1 in the first leg of the second-round fixture at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, on Sunday.

The return leg is scheduled for October 26 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Remo Stars, who are featuring in their fourth continental campaign, are yet to reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Speaking with reporters, Unuanel admitted that it would take a miracle for the Ikenne-based club to score four unanswered goals in South Africa.

“It will take a miracle for Remo Stars to overturn the first-leg result in Pretoria against a Mamelodi Sundowns side that are overexperienced in the competition,” he said.

“To say the truth, Remo Stars didn’t do themselves any favour with the massive scoreline they conceded in Abeokuta.

“They can only play for pride in the second leg and try to avoid conceding heavily again.”
