Interpol recovers 136 stolen vehicles during 4 month-long “Operation Screen West Africa 2025”.

Operation brought together law enforcement agencies from 12 West African countries, including Nigeria and Benin.

Others are Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, the Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Operation also resulted in 62 arrests and the seizure of drugs, weapons, explosives and counterfeit medicines.

A major Interpol-coordinated border security operation carried out from July to October 2025 in West Africa has resulted in 62 arrests and the seizure of weapons, explosives, drugs, counterfeit medicines and 136 stolen vehicles.

The operation, dubbed “Operation Screen West Africa 2025”, brought together law enforcement agencies from 12 West African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, the Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Frontline officers at land, air and sea borders used INTERPOL Mobile Devices and other systems to access the Organization’s extensive global databases, carrying out a total of 1.7 million real-time checks, up from 1.3 million in 2024.

Funded by Germany, Denmark, and the US, the initiative was aimed at strengthening at border security, track persons with links to terrorism and disrupt transnational organized crime networks.
