Injury changes plans for ROH world title match at Final Battle PPV

Ring of Honor has its main event for Final Battle, but it only came about after plans were changed. The world title scene was thrown for a loop in ROH when the top contender was not medically cleared to compete.

Bandido was supposed to defend the ROH World Championship against Rush. Tony Khan explained that El Toro Blanco suffered an injury. The medical staff decided it was best to give Rush time to heal rather than push forward. It is a tall task to replace Rush with just one man, so Khan pivoted to replace him with five men.

Bandido will defend the ROH world title in Survival of the Fittest against Blake Christian, Sammy Guevara, Beast Mortos, Komander, and Hechicero.

The Survival of the Fittest concept is a six-way elimination match (via pinfall or submission). Last man standing wins the prize.

That field is stacked with talent. Bandido has already shown his ability to tear the house down in PPV main events. One of Bandido’s previous challengers was Hechicero. The Alchemist has fantastic chemistry with the Most Wanted. Sammy Guevara is a three-time TNT champion. Komander is a former TV champion in ROH. Beast Mortos’ particular set of skills should be awesome for this style of match. Blake Christian has been targeting Bandido for months, and he will finally get his shot at glory.

Final Battle takes place on Friday, December 5 from Columbus, OH. The PPV will stream live through the Honor Club subscription.
