IMO POLITICS IMO ASSEMBLY GETS FOUR SPEAKERS IN 3 YEARS

The speaker of the Imo state house of assembly Hon. Kennedy Ibe on Monday resigned his position as the speaker of the house.

Though the reason for his resignation has not been made public, the house led by the deputy speaker honourable Amarachi Iwuanyanwu has gone ahead to elect a new speaker in the person of honourable Emeka Nduka member representing the people of Ehime Mbano state constituency.

This makes it the fourth speaker that will emerge within the space of three years of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration, a development many consider as unprecedented and abnormal.  

Presenting the new speaker to Governor Hope Uzodimma at the government house in Owerri, the lawmakers speaking through selected members highlighted the significant reasons for their action.

Receiving the new speaker and house members, the governor in his remark assured them of his continuous support in ensuring that the needed facility they need to do their legislative jobs effectively is provided.

In his words, the new speaker while fielding questions from newsmen said his leadership will be a transparent and people-oriented one.
