I’m Still in the Ring: Kwacham Firmly Denies Stepping Down for Gov Fintiri

Abubakar Buba Abdulrahman Kwacham has categorically rejected reports and insinuations that he has stepped down from the Adamawa North Senatorial race in favour of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri or any other aspirant.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, Kwacham described the circulating claims as “false, misleading, and mischievous,” insisting that he remains fully in the race for the Adamawa North Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I have not stepped down and I am not stepping down for anybody. My ambition is driven by the genuine desire to serve the people of Adamawa North and contribute meaningfully to the development of our senatorial district and the state at large,” Kwacham declared.

The outspoken politician dismissed what he called “deliberate attempts by some elements to create confusion and weaken strong voices within the zone,” stressing that his commitment to the people remains unshaken.

He further stated that while he respects Governor Fintiri’s leadership and the ongoing development efforts in the state, his decision to contest the senatorial seat is based on personal conviction, wide consultations, and the overwhelming support he continues to receive from the grassroots across Madagali, Michika, and Mubi zones.

“Governor Fintiri is doing his best for the state, but that does not mean capable and willing leaders should abandon their aspirations. The Senate needs strong, independent, and experienced voices that can attract more development to Adamawa North,” he added.

Kwacham called on his teeming supporters, political allies, and well-wishers to disregard any rumour suggesting he has withdrawn from the race, describing such reports as the handiwork of political jobbers.

This latest development comes barely hours after Hamisu Idris Medugu (Sardauna Madagali) announced his decision to step aside from the same senatorial race.

Political watchers believe Kwacham’s firm denial has further heated up the contest for the Adamawa North Senatorial ticket within the APC as the 2027 race gathers momentum.
