Iheanacho reflects on dramatic late penalty that kept Celtic in title race

Kelechi Iheanacho has admitted he still cannot explain how he handled the pressure of taking a stoppage-time penalty in Celtic’s dramatic 3-2 win against Motherwell.

The Nigerian forward sparked jubilant celebrations among the travelling supporters after calmly converting the decisive spot-kick deep into added time.

The victory means Celtic’s home clash against league leaders Heart of Midlothian on Saturday will now decide the destination of the Scottish league title.

“To be fair, I don’t have words and I don’t know how I did that, but we’ve done it,” Iheanacho told Sky Sports after scoring the winner.

“I think first of all I just remember that I’ve thought this type of thing before and I just kept my cool and brave.

“It’s scary to be fair but I don’t know what I was thinking.

“Thank God we got the win so we’re happy.”
