Bursaspor forward Kelechi Iheanacho  has reaffirmed his commitment  for the national team, saying  his passion for the Super Eagles  is unconditional, insisting he would answer a call-up for any Nigeria side, whatever the level.

Speaking ahead of today’s friendly against Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, the Turkey-based striker said his long service in the green and white, from the junior ranks to the senior team, is driven purely by love for the game.

“I’m not coming to the national team because of anybody or because of anything; it’s because of the love I have for the game and the passion,” Iheanacho said. “It’s the dream of everyone to play in the Super Eagles as long as you’re a Nigerian.”

He said he has been living that dream for a long time, having featured for Nigeria from the Under-12 and Under-13 levels upward.

“Even if na five-a-side Eagles dey play, or whether na Under-15, na in dem invite me say make I come play, I go play,” he said. “Anything wetin anybody wan talk, e no concern me as long as the coach give me call-up.”

Iheanacho added that he is happy to be back in camp and hopeful of a good outing in Russia.

“It’s a thing of joy, to be fair, and I’m loving it,” he said. “I will enjoy it with the boys and hopefully, we’ll have a very lovely outing on Tuesday.”

The former Leicester City man also defended the standard of the Turkish league, where he currently plies his trade, saying it is tougher than many assume and home to several Nigerians.

“Football is the same all over the world,” he said. “It’s a good league, to be fair, and it’s not easy as people think. When you come play for that side, you go know whether e dey easy or not.”

He said his compatriots in Turkey would testify to the league’s quality, describing it as something of a “safe haven for Nigerians.”
