ICPC Arrests El-Rufai After Two Nights In EFCC Custody

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested a former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, after he had spent two bights in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The spokesperson of the ICPC, John Odey, confirmed the development in a statement he issued to newsmen late on Wednesday.

Odey said: The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to state that Malam Nasiru El-Rufai the former Governor of Kaduna state is in our custody as at close of work today Wednesday the 18th day of February, 2026.

“Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is in the custody of the Commission in connection with investigations.”

EFCC had released the former governor on Wednesday night on meeting his bail conditions after spending two nights in its custody.

The former Kaduna State governor reported at the EFCC headquarters on Monday following the invitation extended to him by the anti-graft agency over corruption allegations when he served as governor.
