Popular gospel musician, Mike Abdul, has said that he does not have any problem working with fellow gospel artistes or secular musicians, so long as a basic criterion is met.

According to the former member of Midnight Crew, the primary focus of any collaboration for him is the type of project they intend to work on. Abdul explained that once all parties come to an agreement on the kind of song to be recorded and released, then he will collaborate with the person.

The ‘Eyan Jesu’ singer, who started his career making gospel fuji music opened up in an interview as he noted that he should not be restricted to that genre.

Mike Abdul said; “I have never had issues collaborating with anybody, whether they are secular artistes or not. It depends on what we are collaborating on. Once there is a purpose and we agree on what we are collaborating on, I will definitely with the person.

“I have always done different genres, but because people already see me as a gospel fuji artiste, it has become a sort of tag for me. Some people think that is all I do. However, I have many songs that are not gospel fuji.”

Speaking on what inspired his latest song titled, Most High, Abdul said; “It was just my reflection on who God is and the praise we give to Him. A lot of times, we wait until He does something before we praise Him. I got to a point where I felt I should just praise God for who He is. Even if God does not do anything for me again, I feel He has done enough.”

Asked if his former group, Midnight Crew, would be working together anytime soon, Abdul said; “I also want to hear from them. I am missing them too. Two of us (the ladies) now live in the United Kingdom, while the two men live in Nigeria. I was in the UK recently, and I visited the two ladies. I really hope we can still work together.”
