Rising Nollywood star and AMVCA Trailblazer awardee, Teniola Aladese, has stirred conversations within the entertainment industry after declaring her decision to avoid romantic entanglements with her male counterparts in the acting profession.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the popular ‘I Said What I Said’ podcast, the actress, who gained prominence for her role in the hit series “Jemeji”, offered a candid assessment of the challenges of navigating the dating pool in Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre.

Aladese described dating in Lagos as a “very big mess” and “stressful,” despite admitting she has been fortunate enough to avoid “terrible” first-date experiences.

The actress was particularly vocal about her boundaries regarding colleagues within the movie industry. While she expressed an openness to dating professionals in the “upper echelons” of production, such as directors and producers, she remained firm on her stance against actors.

“I don’t want to date an actor. I wouldn’t mind producers or directors, but actors are a no for me,” Aladese stated, though she did not provide specific reasons for the exclusion.

The actress also touched on the “audacity” of men on social media, revealing that her direct messages (DMs) are constantly flooded with suitors. She noted that while many of her dates start well, her high standards often mean there is rarely a second meeting.

It would be recalled that Teniola Aladese began her journey in the film industry behind the scenes as a production manager before successfully transitioning to acting. Her career hit a significant milestone in 2022 when she was honoured with the prestigious Trailblazer Award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), cementing her status as one of the industry’s most promising talents.
