I Have Never Received ₦5 Million in My Life — Notorious Bandit Bello Turji

Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has denied claims that he received money or vehicles during peace negotiations with the Zamfara State Government.

In a video currently circulating on social media, the wanted bandit dismissed allegations that he benefited financially from peace talks. He claimed that he has never received ₦5 million in his life and insisted that his involvement in banditry was not for personal enrichment.

Turji made the video in response to accusations by Musa Kamarawa, a former peace mediator appointed by the Sokoto and Zamfara State governments to engage armed groups in the North-West region.

Kamarawa had alleged that Turji received ₦30 million during several meetings with the former governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, who now serves as Minister of State for Defence. According to the claims, the meetings took place at the Government House in Gusau, and vehicles were also allegedly distributed to Turji and others. In his response, Turji rejected the accusations, insisting that he did not receive any money or vehicles from the Zamfara State Government during the peace process

He said: “By Allah, since I was born, I have never possessed even N5m. What I am doing is not for personal gain. We were never given the N30m you are talking about.”

Turji accused Kamarawa of betraying the trust built during the negotiations and giving what he described as “false and mischievous testimony.”

“We agreed on peace when the Zamfara State government appointed you. But what you are saying now is full of lies and deceit. I did not even receive N3m” he said

“We are not politicians, and we are not tools of politicians. There is no human being backing us.”he said
