I Have Evidence That ADC Primary Was Rigged – Babachir Lawal insists

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has alleged that the primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was manipulated, claiming he possesses evidence to support his assertions.

Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired on Monday, Lawal said he personally monitored the exercise and witnessed irregularities during the conduct of the primary election.

The former SGF, who noted that he served as the National Vice Chairman (Northeast) of the party, dismissed claims by supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that the election was conducted fairly.

According to Lawal, attempts to deny wrongdoing by those involved in the process amount to misinformation.

“Don’t forget I was the National Vice Chairman (Northeast). I was in the field during the exercise, so I have evidence,” he said.

“Atiku’s people are the ones lying by trying to deny what they did. We are all human beings. We know what they did.”

Lawal further stated that he became convinced the election had been compromised while the process was ongoing and as the results were being announced.

“I knew the primary was rigged at the point it was being done and the results being declared,” he added.

His allegations are likely to reignite debate over the credibility of the ADC primary and could deepen divisions among party stakeholders ahead of future political contests.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Atiku Abubakar’s camp regarding Lawal’s latest claims.
