The man has been detained in Interpol custody but according to Nigerian government said that plans are been put in place have him extradeted to Nigeria. Read the full details below

Government sources familiar with the case who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak on the matter confirmed the development to our correspondent on Sunday night.

They said

“Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service, and he will be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL.”

“We have found him. We know where he is; he is in Kenya, and we’re working with the authorities to bring him back to Nigeria.

“All hands are on the deck, the government and all the security agencies are working hard in conjunction with the Kenyan authorities and INTERPOL, to ensure his return to Nigeria to face the charges brought against him,” the report quoted a source as saying.

Following his unlawful escape from custody, the federal government has been on Anjarwalla’s trail, tracing him to Kenya from where he was nabbed but the Anjarwallas are influential and have the backing of some powerful people. He is the son of Atiq Anjarwalla, a senior partner at Anjarwalla & Khanna Advocates, East Africa’s largest commercial law firm.

Following his arrest in Kenya, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the International Criminal Police, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenyan Police Service have deepened talks to quicken Anjarwalla’s extradition.

Meanwhile, the detective had said the extradition process might encounter challenges. According to Kenya’s extradition laws, before Anjarwalla can be arrested, a Nigerian court must issue an arrest warrant, which will be forwarded to Nairobi’s attorney general. Nigeria can also request a red notice through Interpol, an international organization that promotes global police cooperation and crime control.

Following the arrest, Kenyan police must obtain court consent, which could take months or years, the detective noted.
