How Philip Shaibu Outsmarted Gov. Obaseki on his Reinstatement as the Deputy Governor

The former governor of Edo state Philip Shaibu has been reinstated as the deputy governor of the state by Justice Omotosho of the Abuja Federal high Court. Remember we told you how Shaibu revealed the real vote, he got during PDP gubernatorial primaries? He said that he’s the real candidate of the PDP.

Justice Omotosho, while delivering judgment in the suit, ordered that Shaibu be reinstated to office because the Edo State House of Assembly failed to comply with due process in impeaching him.

Justice Omotosho also set aside the appointment of the new Deputy Governor who replaced Shaibu.He ordered the Inspector General of Police to provide him with needed security to enable him to resume office and perform the functions of the office until the end of his tenure.The Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) has appealed the judgment by Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which set aside the impeachment of the state’s former deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.

Shaibu was impeached by the vote of eighteen out of 19 members of the Assembly present at plenary, while one abstained from the headcount and voting process.

In the wake of Shaibu’s impeachment, Governor Godwin Obaseki picked Omobayo Marvellous Godwins as his deputy to complete his second tenure in office which will end on November 11, 2024. Continue reading.
