Homemade Frappuccino

Homemade Frappuccino

While I love a Starbucks Frappuccino (who doesn’t?), I honestly think I prefer making them at home. I don’t have to make a special trip or even leave my house.

Plus, I like being able to make whatever size I want and customize the flavors to my liking. So, I thought I’d share my homemade Frappuccino recipe in case anyone else feels the same.

Frappuccino Ingredients

  • Espresso (or strongly brewed coffee)
  • Ice
  • Milk (or your favorite milk alternative)
  • Sweetenerchocolate syrup, caramel, chocolate chips, etc.
  • Whipped cream – homemade whipped cream or store-bought is great

How to Make a Frappuccino

Brew the espresso or coffee.

In a blender, combine the espresso or coffee, ice, milk, and sweetener(s) of choice. See the recipe card below for exact measurements. Blend well until almost foamy.

Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream. I will sometimes use a Yeti tumbler (or any brand) to keep the drink cold for longer as I like to sip and savor.

Home Espresso Makers

While you can use strong coffee in this recipe, if you want to make espresso, here are the home espresso makers we have tried and recommend:

  • Cafe Automatic Espresso Machine – My current machine. It uses any whole beans, so if you use high quality beans you’ll get high quality espresso. It makes espresso shots automatically (no barista skills required) and includes a milk frothing wand to heat and froth milk. We’ve used this machine almost every day since we got it two years ago and we love it! It comes in three colors.
  • Stovetop Espresso – This is the cheapest way to make espresso at home. It’s more labor intensive and you will also need a way to grind your beans for best results. But, this is a classic method that works great when done well.
  • Breville Barista Touch – We bought this for a good friend as a wedding gift once and they said they love it. It’s a higher end machine that you will need some barista skills to operate, but it’s an excellent home espresso maker.
  • Nespresso Vertuo – For those who want an espresso maker that uses pods, this is my favorite. Depending on what pod you use, it can make espresso or coffee.
