God wants to develop a connection with every one of us. He wants to be the first person we call when we have a problem, are terrified, or just need someone to talk to. God provides us with the tools we need to communicate with Him. However, there are occasions when we choose to pursue alternative avenues. We lose sight of God’s presence, believe He doesn’t have time for us or make any number of other justifications.

When we turn our backs on God, He is attempting to get our attention. God desires to assist us, to alleviate our suffering, and to be a resource. God may speak softly to us in prayer or yell from the rooftops to attract our attention. God communicates with us in a variety of ways that we often overlook or dismiss.

Is God attempting to attract your attention by crying out to you? Here are the eight signs that He is who He claims to be.

Through people

People messengers are another way God provides us with guidance. The Lord will speak a word into your life through family, close friends, and even total strangers, piercing an area God is attempting to deal with. Sometimes a random person you encounter will say something that you badly need to hear or know but would not have heard if you hadn’t crossed paths with them. God can use these folks to share the gospel with you and provide sound advise. These individuals genuinely care about you, and God will chose people you can trust to give critical messages to you.

Deeper spiritual sensitivity

Your spiritual awareness will increase, and you will participate in deeper understanding, in addition to having greater vitality. Simple activities, such as viewing a movie or TV show, will speak to you in a variety of ways that others may not understand. God might be bestowing knowledge and wisdom on you that you didn’t even realize you possessed. This is one of His methods of attracting your attention. God cares about you acquiring higher spiritual sensitivity because He wants you to take your spiritual journey seriously. “For we walk by faith, not by sight,” says Second Corinthians 5:7. Our spiritual awareness will increase if we focus our attention on God.

Dreams

When you go to sleep at night, how often do you have dreams? If you are like the vast majority of the human race, you dream every night, but you are rarely lucky enough to remember your dreams in the morning. The few that you do remember are preserved largely as hazy impressions of color, a few vivid images that have little to no context or an echo of a strong emotion though you are unsure what in the dream made you feel ecstatic, terrified or irate. Dreams from the Holy Spirit, however, are often different. They are deeply emotional and often involve vivid imagery. You also remember them come morning. Unlike normal dreams, they do not fade away into the ether at dawn. Instead, they linger in the back of your head for days, weeks or even months after you initially had the dream.

Gut feelings

When you’re trying to make a decision, you’ve almost likely been taught that you should trust your gut feeling or listen to your instincts. This is fantastic advice. Everything about a scenario may appear to be ideal — whether it’s a new job, relationship, or apartment — but there’s a nagging sense in the back of your head or a knot in your stomach that makes you hesitate.

This is sometimes due to natural apprehensions about change. Other times, those unexplainable nervousness or out-of-the-blue exhilaration are signs that the Holy Spirit is trying to reach out to you.
