He Divorced Me Because I Had a C-Section — Woman Cries Out

A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to share her heartbreaking experience after her husband divorced her simply because she delivered her two children through C-section.

The woman, identified as Sumayya Hamman Adama, opened up in an emotional Facebook post, explaining that she had undergone C-section during both pregnancies. Sadly, she lost her first child but is now caring for her second baby.

In her words: “I have gone through this for the first and second birth, he divorce me because I was giving birth through CS. He can’t stay with me. But Alhamdulillah for everything. I lost the first baby, I am now with the second born. Alhamdulillah. May Almighty Allah rewards and bless anyone that is going through hard times,”

Reacting to her story, another Facebook user, Buithat Hudu, criticized men who shame or abandon women for delivering their babies through C-section.

She wrote: “The way some men speak about their wives as if they were not birthed by a woman is nauseating. How the hell do you attribute a CAESARIAN SECTION scar to the character of a woman? Your mother failed you seriously. The same thing she went through in bringing you to the world, is same thing your wife goes through to bring forth your ‘own’ children to the world. But all of a sudden, you think your mother is more of a woman than your wife? If you can cherish your mother for bearing you, you should also cherish your wife for bearing your children.”
