Guardian Angel: From Growing Up in Kibera to Owning a Football Club

Guardian Angel, whose real name is Audiphaxad Peter Omwaka, is a Kenyan gospel musician celebrated for his melodious voice and performance prowess, earning him the nickname “music doctor.”

At 36, Guardian Angel is celebrated for blending dancehall, reggae, and Afro-rap with uplifting gospel lyrics, creating a soul-lifting experience in churches and arenas where he ministers.

In early December 2025, the musician launched his own football club, 7HM FC, a team in Kenya’s lower football leagues, blending his passion for sports with a commitment to giving back to society by supporting and nurturing upcoming football talent.

Educational Background

Guardian Angel attended St. Mary’s primary school in Nairobi for his primary school education, learning through scholarships, and thereafter joined Buru Buru Secondary School.

Besides his studies, he honed his musical talent and became the first Kenyan student to win 10 awards at the National High School Music Festivals. This record has remained unbroken to date.

It is during his high school years that he recorded his first song, while in Form 3, which was released post-graduation in 2012 as part of his debut album ‘Living Bread.’

After high school, Guardian enrolled at Kenyatta University to pursue a degree in environmental studies.

Guardian’s Career

Guardian Angel began his music career in talent shows and music festivals, and later established his own record label, Seven Heaven Music, which supports young, emerging gospel talent.

He won the Groove Award for Best Male Gospel Artist in 2018.

As a multi-talented instrumentalist, Guardian plays both guitar and piano and is known for his ability to blend different musical genres.

He is the founder and CEO of the 7 Heaven Music company.

He also runs a Guardian Angel Foundation, a philanthropic arm aimed at empowering other musicians, which is highly supported by his farming venture at his home in Mua, christened “Waingo Farm,” where he rears pigs and grows traditional vegetables.

Achievements

The musician has reached a significant milestone over the years, with 2025 standing out for the massive projects he is undertaking independently.

In October, Guardian Angel announced that he was building a church with his own funds, without any appeals for help or fundraisers, and that it would be completed by the end of the year. He has been giving updates on its progress often.

In early December 2025, the celebrated musician also launched his football club, 7HM FC, to support young, upcoming football talent.

He has featured and collaborated with prominent and renowned gospel musicians across the globe, like celebrated Tanzanian singer Rose Muhando.

Family background

He was born on January 29, 1989, in Butere, Kakamega County, and raised in Nairobi’s Kibera slums.

Born to a single mother, he grew up in a humble background, faced juvenile detention and homelessness, but found solace in music and faith.

A life-changing moment happened during former President Moi’s 1990s street children rehabilitation program, which helped him return to school, where he became born-again early, crediting gospel music as his anchor against vices.

Guadian is married to Esther Musila, a mother of 3 adult children from a previous marriage. The couple tied the knot in a private wedding attended by family members and close friends on January 4, 2022.
