GhanaWeb Appoints Patrice Amegashie as Commercial Manager

GhanaWeb has announced the appointment of multiple award-winning broadcast journalist and media executive Patrice Amegashie as its new Commercial Manager.

The appointment is widely regarded within the media and advertising industry as a strategic move aimed at strengthening GhanaWeb’s commercial growth, brand positioning, and revenue diversification, as competition intensifies within Ghana’s rapidly evolving digital media landscape.

Patrice Amegashie brings more than two decades of experience spanning broadcasting, corporate communications, business development, brand management, and media leadership. His career is noted for its combination of strong editorial credibility and commercial insight—an increasingly vital balance for sustainable digital media operations.

His appointment comes at a time when GhanaWeb is expanding its footprint across digital advertising, branded content, events, and strategic partnerships, positioning the platform beyond traditional news publishing.

Amegashie is widely recognised as one of Ghana’s most versatile broadcast journalists. He rose to national prominence as co-host of the flagship morning television programme “This Morning” on Viasat 1, alongside Kokui Selormey. The programme, which blended current affairs, lifestyle, and entertainment, redefined morning television in Ghana and attracted strong ratings and a loyal local and international audience.

His television career includes roles at Viasat 1 and TV Africa, where he served both as an on-air personality and in senior management positions, including Head of Programmes. His work contributed to the development of modern, interactive morning TV formats with strong audience engagement and commercially viable programming structures.

Before his television career, Amegashie built a foundation in radio at Radio Gold, where he worked as a Morning Show Host and presenter of diverse music genres, including African music, Calypso, Soca, Reggae, and Funk. He later transitioned into corporate leadership at the station, serving as Human Resource and Corporate Affairs Manager, gaining experience in organisational management and corporate strategy.

Beyond broadcasting, he has worked on campaigns for numerous leading brands in Ghana and across Africa, including MTN, UT Bank, Telecel, UBA, Access Bank, Goldkey Properties, Buena Vista Homes, CompuGhana, LG, CHIGO, Ethiopian Airlines, Aviance, Lakeside Estates, and Telefonika.

He is also an experienced Master of Ceremony, having hosted major local and international events such as UNCTAD XII, the Michael Power initiative, and Coca-Cola CSR projects. Additionally, he was a partner in organising the National Sports Journalists’ Awards, a major sports media recognition platform in Ghana.

Amegashie’s international media production experience includes programmes documenting the careers of Ghanaian footballers abroad, with productions recorded in the United States and Europe, including at iconic venues such as Wembley Stadium, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield, and Bolton Wanderers.

His contributions to the media industry have earned him multiple honours, including two Television Morning Show Host of the Year awards and two Best Morning Show Programme awards at the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards.

Known for his engaging on-screen presence and strong understanding of audience behaviour, Amegashie’s appointment is expected to support GhanaWeb’s efforts to strengthen advertiser confidence, expand commercial offerings, and reinforce its leadership in Ghana’s digital media space.

Industry stakeholders believe his leadership will play a key role in GhanaWeb’s next phase of growth, as the platform continues to evolve into a full-scale digital media and advertising powerhouse.
