According to the report, 99 percent of employers in Saudi Arabia use skills-based hiring methods for entry-level positions, while 86 percent apply the approach extensively across their organizations.

The report also found that 79 percent of employers would choose candidates with verified generative AI skills over more experienced applicants who lack such credentials.

This reflects a growing emphasis on practical capabilities and workplace readiness rather than relying solely on academic qualifications.

Rising Student Interest in AI Credentials

Saudi students are increasingly seeking educational programs that offer specialized micro-credentials in generative AI.

The report found that 82 percent of Saudi students are more likely to enroll in programs that include such credentials, significantly higher than the global average of 62 percent.

Interest rises even further when these credentials carry formal academic recognition, demonstrating the growing importance of certified skills in higher education and career development.

Better Performance and Higher Salaries

Employers reported strong confidence in graduates who possess professional micro-credentials.

According to the findings, 92 percent of Saudi employers believe entry-level employees with specialized credentials perform better during their first year on the job.

Additionally, 72 percent expect significant reductions in training costs, while 98 percent indicated they would offer higher starting salaries to graduates holding these qualifications.

Improved Employment Outcomes

The report also showed that 85 percent of graduates with micro-credentials secured jobs related to their field of study within 12 months of graduation.

The results highlight the increasing alignment between labor market needs and specialized professional training, particularly in technology and digital sectors.

Industry leaders noted that advancements in artificial intelligence are moving faster than traditional academic curricula can adapt.
