It is with deep sorrow that the Ajumogobia family announces the untimely passing of their beloved sister, daughter, cousin, and friend, Dr. Aribim Chuchu Ajumogobia. The family is devastated by the loss of a young life taken too soon.

Dr. Aribim Chuchu Ajumogobia was a respected member of her community, known for her kindness, intelligence, and dedication to her profession. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The funeral arrangements for Dr. Aribim Chuchu Ajumogobia have been announced by the family. A Night of Tributes will be held on Thursday, 22nd August 2024, at Our Saviour’s Church (OSC), TBS, Onikan, starting at 6:30 PM. This will be an opportunity for family, friends, and well-wishers to gather and share their memories of the deceased.

On Friday, 23rd August 2024, the Lying in State and Funeral Service will take place at Our Saviour’s Church (OSC), TBS, commencing at 10 AM. The family invites all those who wish to pay their final respects to attend the service.

Recall that three of Dr. Ajumogobia’s domestic staff have confessed to her murder. Peter Abigiel (21), Olatunji Oluwasegun (35), and Umaru Mamman (45) were arrested by the Lagos State Police in connection with the crime. During interrogation, Abigiel, who worked as a maid, admitted that they gagged and stabbed Dr. Ajumogobia in the neck inside her apartment, with the motive of stealing cash and valuables.

Dr. Ajumogobia, fondly called Chuchu, was in her early 30s and lived alone with her domestic staff. Her lifeless body was discovered in front of her house on the morning of Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Abigiel’s confession has confirmed the family’s suspicion that Chuchu was murdered inside her home and her body later dumped outside.

The three suspects were initially kept in separate cells for interrogation. While Oluwasegun and Mamman initially denied their involvement, Abigiel revealed the details of the crime and each individual’s role when they were questioned together. She confessed that they tied a cloth around Dr. Ajumogobia’s neck, and as she struggled to free herself, one of them gagged her and stabbed her in the neck. Though they claimed their intention was to leave her unconscious and flee with the valuables, they realized she had died during the assault.

Abigiel further admitted that Oluwasegun and Mamman dragged the deceased’s body out of the apartment under the cover of darkness and attempted to clean the blood-stained floor. They then ransacked Dr. Ajumogobia’s room, collected the valuables they wanted, and planned to escape by morning.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, stated that detectives traced the blood that was not properly cleaned to the crime scene. He added, “The driver tried to deny, but the maid insisted they did it together. Signs of an attempt to clean up blood inside the house and in the compound were there. Besides, they were found in possession of the deceased’s valuables they attempted to escape with.”
