FTR have a reason to feud with The Don Callis Family now

When Andrade reappeared in AEW last week on Dynamite, his return segment ended with AEW World Tag champs FTR and their manager Stokely Hathaway glaring at El Ídolo and his fellow Don Callis Family members. We weren’t clear on why, but AEW gave Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler a reason to beef with at least part of Callis’ clan in a 4-way on Dynamite Maximum Carnage tonight (Jan. 14) that determined FTR’s next challengers.

It was the usual frenetic affair sickos expect when Tony Khan puts eight or more people in a match together, two of the teams in this one cancelled each other out before the finish. Ricochet couldn’t watch The Young Bucks pick up the win, so he pulled referee Rick Knox out before he could count three on JetSpeed’s Kevin Knight after he took a BTE Trigger. Matt & Nick Jackson’s pal Jack Perry took out the AEW National champ, leading to a brawl between The Elite trio and Ricochet and his Demand partners Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun.

That left Mark Davis and the newly signed Jake Doyle (formerly TNA’s Jake Something) alone with JetSpeed. First, Doyle powered through a hurricanrana attempt to yeet Speedball Mike Bailey onto the two other units, still battling on the outside…

.. then Doyle’s Callis Family tag partner pinned Knight after a jumping piledriver. With that, Don Callis’ newest team earned a shot at Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler’s gold. The Top Guys were out with their manager Stokely Hathaway to staredown the new #1 contenders. And to throw hands with them.

No word on when this title clash will go down. Will it lead to something between Andrade and FTR? What are your thoughts on Don’s Doyle/Davis duo?
