The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) has been featured in a landmark publication examining the evolution of financial reporting reforms in the country, with a focus on strengthening transparency, accountability and institutional governance in Nigeria’s financial system.

The book, Building a Legacy of Trust: Dr. Rabiu Olowo and the Reform of Financial Reporting in Nigeria, authored by the Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE), provides an in-depth analysis of reforms implemented under the leadership of the Council’s Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Rabiu Olowo.

According to the authors, the publication presents a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s financial reporting ecosystem and highlights the deliberate efforts by the FRC to align the country’s regulatory framework with global standards. The book chronicles the Council’s journey toward strengthening oversight, promoting transparency and ensuring accountability across both the public and private sectors.

The study argues that credible financial reporting is not merely a regulatory requirement but a fundamental pillar for national development, economic stability and investor confidence. It further explores how reforms in financial reporting can reinforce public sector financial discipline while creating a more trustworthy environment for domestic and international investors.

Through detailed analysis, the publication documents the transformative role of reform-driven leadership in reshaping regulatory governance. It underscores how strategic initiatives introduced by the FRC under Olowo’s leadership have helped reposition financial reporting as a critical instrument for sustainable economic progress.

Observers note that the book also provides insights into the broader policy implications of financial transparency, emphasizing that stronger reporting standards are vital for improving corporate governance, enhancing public accountability and fostering long-term economic resilience.

The authors describe the work as both a historical documentation of regulatory reforms and a forward-looking case for why financial reporting transformation remains essential for Nigeria’s development agenda.

The publication is available to the public through the CECOE platform.
