Former Adult Star Nacho Vidal Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison for Giving Man Toad Venom

Spanish former adult film actor Nacho Vidal has been sentenced to four years in prison over the death of a photographer during a ritual involving toad venom in 2019.

According to court reports, the incident occurred on July 28, 2019, when Vidal led what he described as a “spiritual cleansing ritual” using a pipe prepared with the venom of the Bufo toad, known for its strong hallucinogenic properties.

During the ritual, Vidal reportedly placed the venom into the mouth of the victim, identified as José Luis Abad, who inhaled the substance. The event was filmed by Abad’s cousin using his phone.

Authorities said that neither Vidal nor the others present attempted to intervene until they realized that Abad was no longer breathing.
A post-mortem examination determined that Abad died from cardiorespiratory arrest caused by an adverse reaction to the drug.

Further investigation revealed that Abad had consumed cocaine just days prior to the ritual, which may have contributed to the fatal reaction.

The Valencia Prosecutor’s Office sought four-year sentences for both Vidal and another participant, while lawyer Javier Vilarrubí, representing Abad’s family, pushed for a seven-year term for Vidal, accusing him of public health violations as well.

Vilarrubí described Vidal’s actions as: “Irrational, reckless, and extremely dangerous.”

He also called for an additional three-year sentence for a friend of Vidal who helped conceal evidence at the scene.
