Ford will introduce a new limited-edition package for the Mustang, as part of celebrating 60 years since the debut of the original pony car. The “60th Anniversary Appearance Package” will be showcased on April 17, featuring special badges commemorating the milestone.

A duo of dark teasers reveals the placement of the new “5.0” emblem on the front fenders of the Mustang, along with an additional “GT 60 Years” badge sporting a similar design. Ford also unveiled a new logo inspired by these badges and the center caps of the 1964 Mustang. It combines Vermillion Red and Ebony Black colors, showcasing the iconic running pony above the “60 years” lettering.

It’s likely that the “60th Anniversary Appearance Package” will be offered as a limited production option for the Mustang GT equipped with the 5.0-liter V8 engine. The official debut is scheduled to take place at an anniversary event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on April 17, which will also be livestreamed.

Last but not least, starting April 17, all owners of the seventh-generation Mustang will be able to access an “exclusive new feature” through their vehicle’s infotainment. According to Ford, all they have to do is turn on the “Automatic Software Updates” in the Settings menu of the SYNC4 touchscreen and receive this “special feature” related to the 60th anniversary of the nameplate.

Best-Selling Sportscar In The World

Besides the teasers and celebrations of the 60th Anniversary, Ford also announced the Mustang’s global sales numbers for 2023. The model retains its position as the best-selling sportscar in the US and globally, with more than 59,000 units delivered to customers in 2023, adding up to the nearly 1 million Mustangs sold in the past decade. Note that US sales for 2023 were 48,605 units, meaning that the rest of the world accounted for a little over 10,000 Mustangs.

This year is anticipated to see even stronger sales for pony cars, as the seventh-generation 2024 Mustang, which is already available in North America, is set to be rolled out to 85 markets around the world including Europe, China, Australia, and South America.
