Five Arrested While Trying to Assassinate Ecuador President Daniel Noboa

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa narrowly escaped an assassination attempt after his convoy came under attack while traveling to Cañar Province for an official event.

According to government officials, the incident occurred when around 500 people surrounded the president’s car, throwing rocks and other objects as he made his way to announce new infrastructure projects.

The Minister of Interior confirmed that bullet marks were later discovered on the president’s vehicle, suggesting that the attack escalated beyond a protest. Fortunately, President Noboa was unharmed.

Authorities have arrested five suspects in connection with the attempted assassination. They are expected to face terrorism and attempted murder charges under Ecuadorian law.

This is not the first time President Noboa has faced violence while in office. In September, a similar incident occurred when around 350 people attacked a motorcade carrying the president and several diplomats during a protest in Imbabura Province.
