FIFA Rankings: Falcons Climb Ro 36th Globally Despite Missing International Break Window

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have climbed one spot to 36th position in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings released on Tuesday.

The Falcons’ position in the global ranking improved despite not participating in one of the international break windows under review.

The team dropped to 37th in the world in the previous ranking, held in December 2025, and played only Cameroon in a double-header friendly arrangement in March, while missing the last women’s international break slot slated for mid-April.

Falcons lost the first leg of their March friendlies to Cameroon before defeating the Indomitable Lionesses a few days later.

Nigeria also remain the best team in Africa with over 20 slots ahead of the second-placed South Africa in 58th position.

Ghana, Morocco and Zambia — in that order — complete the continent’s top five teams.

Spain maintain first position globally followed by the USA, while England edged Germany to the third position. Japan leapfrogged Sweden, France and Brazil to claim fifth place.

The next FIFA women’s ranking update will be released on June 16.
