Did you know that Messi's World Cup win has put him back into contention, and that Cristiano Ronaldo is missing in the Best FIFA Men's Player Award?

World football governing body, FIFA, has released the categories of The Best Awards 2022. The winners of a total of 11 categories will be known on 27 February 2023.

The categories are: Best FIFA Men's Player, Best FIFA Women's Player, Best FIFA Women's Coach, Best FIFA Men's Coach, Best FIFA Female Goalkeeper, Best FIFA Male Goalkeeper, FIFA FIFPRO Women's World 11, FIFA FIFPRO Men's World 11, FIFA Fair Play Award, FIFA Puskas Award (Best Goal of the Year), and FIFA Fans' Choice Award.

The voting period for the February 27 ceremony begins on Thursday, January 12, 2023. The votes are divided into four parts: 25 percent from journalists; 25 percent from captains of the World Cup teams; 25 percent from coaches; and the remaining 25 percent from the fans.

◼️FIFA Men's Player of the Year 2022

The nominees for the FIFA Women's Player of the Year 2022 are: [1] Aitana Bonmati (Barcelona), [2] Debinha (North Carolina Courage), [3] Jessie Fleming (Chelsea), [4] Ada Hegerberg (Olympique Lyon), [5] Sam Kerr (Chelsea), [6] Beth Mead (Arsenal), [7] Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal), [8] Alex Morgan (San Diego Wave), [9] Lena Oberdorf (Wolfsburg), [10] Alexandra Popp (Wolfsburg), [11] Alexia Putellas (Barcelona), [12] Wendie Renard (Olympique Lyon), [13] Keira Walsh (Barcelona) and [14] Leah Williamson (Arsenal).

◼️The Best Men's Football Coach Award

The nominees for Best Coach of 2022 are: [1] Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), [2] Didier Deschamps (France), [3] Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), [4] Walid Regragui (Morocco) and [5] Lionel Scaloni (Argentina).

◼️The Best Women's Football Coach Award

The nominees for Best Women's Football Coach of 2022 are: [1] Sonia Bompastor (Olympique Lyon), [2] Emma Hayes (Chelsea), [3] Bev Priestman (Canada), [4] Pia Sundhage (Brazil), [5] Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (Germany) and [6] Sarina Wiegman (England).

◼️The Best Male Goalkeeper Award

The nominees for Best Goalkeeper 2022 are: [1] Alisson Becker (Liverpool), [2] Yassine Bounou (Sevilla), [3] Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), [4] Ederson (Manchester City) and [5] Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa).

◼️The Best Female Goalkeeper Awards

The nominees for Best Goalkeeper 2022 are: [1] Christine Endler (Olympique Lyon), [2] Ann-Katrin Berger (Chelsea), [3] Mary Earps (Manchester United), [4] Merle Frohms (Wolfsburg), [5] Alyssa Naeher (Chicago Red Stars) and [6] Sandra Panos (Barcelona).

◼️FIFA Fan of the Year Award:

[1] Abdullah Al Salmi (Saudi Arabia): Abdullah walked across the desert from his native Jeddah to Qatar to cheer on his national team at the FIFA World Cup. [2] Argentina fans: Argentinian fans travelled en masse to Qatar to give their unconditional support to their national team, who went on to win the World Cup, and millions of fans welcomed their heroes in Buenos Aires and across the country. [3] Japanese national team supporters: Japanese fans have gained worldwide recognition for their tradition of staying behind to clean the stands after FIFA World Cup matches.
