Female Referee Suffers Concussion After Being Knocked Down While Breaking Up Players’ Fight

A female referee was forced to leave the pitch after suffering an injury while attempting to break up a confrontation during a pre-season friendly between French club Metz and Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.

Mathilde Demoncay reportedly sustained a concussion after being kn0cked to the ground as she intervened in a melee involving players from both teams.

The incident occurred in the 40th minute after two opposing players clashed following a shirt-pulling incident. As tensions escalated and other players rushed into the confrontation, Demoncay stepped in to restore order but was kn0cked over, falling heavily to the ground.

She was seen in visible pain while holding her arm before medical personnel assisted her off the field.

According to The Telegraph, Demoncay was later diagnosed with a concussion.

The match resumed after another official took over refereeing duties. Demoncay later served as an assistant referee for the remainder of the first half before withdrawing completely due to the concussion.

Metz went on to win the friendly match 3-1.
