Family Devotion Day 12: Don’t let your weakness stop you

Bible reading for Day 12  | John 4:14-15

“But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, ‘Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.’”

There was once an unpopular woman who did not have any friends. Yet, Jesus chose to meet her and tell her who He is: The Messiah. 

When the woman met Jesus and experienced His love and power, she was so excited she threw away her water jar and ran back to the village and told everyone about Him. Because of her, many people came to Jesus and believed in Him. 

What about you? Have you met Jesus? Have you experienced His love? Why not tell your friends and your family all about Him? Why not share with them what Jesus has done in your life and in the life of others? 

Maybe  you are afraid no one will listen to you. But it does not matter. When you share, God will do the rest, just as He did with the words of the woman who told the villagers about Him.

Sharing the Gospel is not just for your Sunday School teachers, your Pastor or your parents. It is for everyone, including you.

What is the Gospel? It means Good News. It is Good News because Jesus died to pay for your sin, rose again after three days and now lives forever to save you.

That is a gift from God. We don’t have to work for it. We simply accept it by receiving Jesus into our hearts. 

So don’t let your weaknesses or fears stop you from sharing the Good News! 

Discuss 

1. Do you sometimes feel like the woman at the well – unpopular and ashamed? Will you come to Jesus and ask Him for the Living Water that will give you joy?

2. Did you notice that Jesus chose the most unpopular person in the village to talk to? Is there someone you know that everyone thinks is bad? Ask God to help you see them the way Jesus sees them.

3. Are you excited about the Good News? Can you think of an example of how Jesus has helped you and share it with others?

Pray 

1. Pray that God will show you that you are His child whom He dearly loves.

2. Ask God to help you remember the things He has done for you. Pray that He will use this to encourage you and others to turn to Jesus.

 3. Give your weaknesses and fears to Jesus. Ask that He gives you His joy and strength and confidence!
