Summer’s in full swing, and naturally, we need new clothes. Some trends we’re looking out for this season: statement pants that aren’t jeans, versatile beach cover-ups, and matching sets we don’t have to think twice about — and Free People has them all. Here’s everything we’re adding to our cart.

A linen skirt set you can take from day to night…

This skirt set is one of our top picks when we want to feel effortlessly put together. The backless halter top and flowy maxi skirt will work just as well with slides as they will with strappy heels.

Our favorite set for a walk along the beach…

We also love this set for brunches, baby showers, and anywhere else we want to feel comfortable, yet chic (aka, everywhere). The tube top and wide-leg pants are held up with elastic, not hardware, so it feels like you're wearing loungewear.

Certified Cool Girl™ pants…

When it's hot and muggy out, the last thing you want to reach for is a pair of tight jeans. These flowy pull-on pants are loose-fitting, but still have some structure. Pair them with kitten heels or flip-flops and a tank for a more laidback look.

A breezy sundress you could wear to a wedding…

We love a multipurpose garment. This breezy tank dress has a drop-waist bodice and a hint of ruffles and lace, which makes it a great wedding guest look. It can also be dressed down with sneakers and a denim jacket.

A maxi dress that feels like it was pulled from a romance novel…

Between the puffy cap sleeves and lace trim, this tiered maxi is giving Bennet sister energy. It’s soft to the touch and comes in eight summer-ready colors. Future brides: the white option would work as a wedding shower or engagement party dress.

The micro skort replacing our denim shorts…

Sand, sweat, and denim aren’t exactly a good mix. When you don’t feel like wearing real pants or shorts (relatable), go for this low-rise skort for your next trip to the beach or pool. Complement the skort’s bright stripes with a simple white tank or flowy white button-down.

Cotton-linen pants that make a statement…

All the cool girls on our feeds are wearing bold linen pants…so we’re wearing bold linen pants. These are the striped linen blend version of free-est’s cotton original Sun Dazed pants. They’re pull-on style, and cords at the hips let you adjust the fit. In other words, these are a 10 out of 10.

Linen pants that were practically made for the beach…

These billowy pants won’t stick to your just-sunscreened skin. They’re slightly cropped and cinch at the ankle for a balloon-like silhouette that’s equal parts trendy and comfortable.

A sultry maxi dress for date nights…

Cutouts? Check. Tie neck? Check. Backless? Check, check, and check. This dress does all the heavy lifting of a fully-styled date night outfit on its own. All you have to do is add some jewelry and a pair of sandals, and you’re good to go.

A matching set for cooler nights…

We’re upgrading our college sweatshirt and denim shorts combo to this elevated knit set. The muted stripes and slightly flared pants give it a retro, vintage look, while the matching crewneck top keeps you feeling snug (but not restricted) after a day in the sun.
