In the history of optical illusions, this could be one of the hardest to crack.

Everyone can see the gnarled bark of the tree in this task, but something else is lurking in the picture.

We won’t be giving anything away if we tell you it is a reptile hiding in plain sight.

Set the clock and get searching because you have a paltry seven seconds to find it before the bell rings and time is out.

If you succeed in tracking it down in the allotted time, congratulations.

Your powers of observation are top notch and you have 20/20 vision.

The setting is a forest in Kenya and a tree trunk is covered in moss and lichens, giving a green patina.

This makes the mission harder for gamers on the hunt for this little fellow.

It is a high casqued chameleon, or, to give it its zoological name, chamaeleo hoehnelii. They have evolved to blend into the background, protecting them from predators.

Now, anyone with the slightest knowledge of these clever little reptiles will know, they can change their colors to match their environment.

In the head-scratching puzzle, Mr. Chameleon is doing a excellent job because he is almost impossible to see.

But we promise he is there, just camouflaged in a mind-bending way, and that’s just the way he likes it.

If he can’t be seen, that’s good enough for our cute reptile. It keeps him safe from creatures further up the food chain.

They are wonders of nature. There are over 200 identified species of chameleon in the wild.

Perhaps a clue might help you in your search. Study the bark for any changes in shape, anything that detours from conventional bark patterns.

You might spot a teeny tiny spot of yellow, this is one of the chameleon’s bulbous eyes.
