Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has condemned how the unruly Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson, was treated by the airline officials.

Naija News reports that a video circulating on social media shown moment Emmanson was bundled and dragged out of the Ibom Airplane after assaulting airline staff on a flight from Uyo to Lagos.

She was subsequently arrested and charged for her action which many have condemned.

However, Yesufu has drawn a stark contrast between Emmanson’s treatment and the cases of other prominent figures, Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who were involved in separate airline-related incidents but were not arrested or detained.

“Just the way they asked King Wasiu to come down… King Wasiu Ayinde, according to reports, actually poured whatever he had in the plane and even was stopping an aircraft. But he has not been remanded,” she pointed out.

“Why didn’t you drag King Wasiu Ayinde out of the aircraft like that? Why didn’t they bundle Senator Adams Oshiomhole and drag him on the floor?” Yesufu questioned.

Yesufu also condemned the manner in which Comfort Emmanson was physically restrained by security agents.

She alleged that Emmanson was dragged in such a way that her dress was torn, exposing her breasts to the public.

“That is sexual harassment. That is you putting somebody’s nudity in the public while there was literally no need for that to be in the public place,” Yesufu said, lamenting that Emmanson would now “forever live with the fact that her body part… is now all out on display and people will continue to make caricatures with it.”
