Eli Lilly to Invest ₹9,000 Crore in Hyderabad, Boost Telangana’s Pharma Leadership

Global pharmaceutical major Eli Lilly and Company has announced a ₹9,000 crore investment to establish a large-scale manufacturing and quality hub in Hyderabad, following a meeting between its leadership and Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy, state IT minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla shared on X.

The investment is expected to create thousands of high-value jobs and attract further global partnerships in the sector. The new facility will expand the company’s global manufacturing and supply network.

This development comes against the backdrop of Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly)’s opening of a new global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad earlier this year.

Reddy said the development reflects the state’s strong industrial ecosystem and his government’s commitment to attracting world-class investments. “Telangana is emerging as a preferred destination for global investors. This investment from Eli Lilly will further strengthen our vision of making the state a global leader in pharma innovation and opportunity,” he said.

The company noted that the investment aligns with India’s Make in India vision. Since 2020, Eli Lilly has committed over $55 billion globally toward building and expanding facilities, developing new medicines for diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer’s, cancer and autoimmune diseases, and preparing for next-generation treatments.

Recruitment for the new unit will begin immediately, with positions open for engineers, chemists, analytical scientists and quality professionals.

With supportive policies and a skilled workforce, Telangana continues to draw significant investments from international companies seeking to build advanced manufacturing and R&D capabilities.
